Dylan researched and learned about Amerigo Vespucci. We read a book about Vespucci and then used the internet to learn more about him. Dylan learned that it was Amerigo Vespucci who made the realization that the land Columbus discovered was actually a new land and a new continent. He learned that a map maker, Martin Waldseemuller named the new continent after Amerigo. We discussed why Columbus called the Native Americans Indians. We looked at where the Indies were in relation to the new continent.
