Lesson Outline
Charlie reviewed figurative language: metaphor, simile, hyperbole, idiom, irony, oxymoron, and alliteration. He read the lyrics to the song, "Breakeven," by the Script and "Sonnet 30" by Edmund Spencer. He interpreted the song and poem. He found they had the same theme of unrequited love. He looked at rhyme patterns and compared them. He felt the poem and song had more similarities than differences. He watched the video of the song on YouTube. He used the dictionary to look up the definitions of "poem" and "song." The definitions are also similar. Finally, Charlie examined the song and poem for figurative language.
