Lesson Topic
Book 2, Lesson 1 Words with welded sounds ang, ung, ing, unk, ank
Lesson Outline
Dylan started the lesson playing Quick Drill in Reverse. He found and pronounced the vowels. Dylan sounded and pointed to the letters of p. qu, v, ch, th, and ck. He told the letters and sounds for welded sounds ong, ang, ank, ink, onk, and unk. Dylan read the words sank, dung, and dunk from the magnetic letters. He pronounced sing, bang, tank, kings, and thinks from the tiles. Dylan is working on auditory discrimination between the "k" sound and the "ng" sound at the end of a word. Dylan practiced the sight words: asked and her. He worked on dictation getting all sounds correct. Dylan completed the real words and the nonsense words. He did well with "quink" which includes command of the use of "qu." Dylan spelled: asked, her, was, and, and she correctly. The sentences are difficult for Dylan. He repeats the sentence after he hears it, but cannot keep a grasp on the words once he starts writing. He begins to have omission of words and letters. After several pauses and repeats, Dylan was able to complete the dictation. We will continue to work on these sounds over the summer. Dylan worked on the analysis for this dictation and then we continued with Because of Winn Dixie.
