Lesson Outline
Max was given a blank canvas and was asked to come up with a scene that he would like to create. He chose a beach, waves, and a surfer. I found some reference images to make sure that we were getting his correct vision. We began with laying down a yellow-orange and blended it into a light-blue. This technique allowed us to create a horizon. Max was tasked with using the same technique to create the sun and trees. I stepped in when he had any issues getting the look that he was trying to achieve. I also made him aware of light source (the sun) and how it would affect his trees and water. We were able to make the adjustments and add more realism to his painting. He painted in the wave, I drew in the surfer and he painted the surfer.
