Lesson Outline
I enjoyed meeting Kaniyah and her family. After chatting a bit, we played several games of Alphabet bingo voicing letter sounds. I feel that Kaniyah knows all of the first level of sounds. She was absolutely thrilled to beat me twice! I then taught her to play Slap!, a card game that involves reading consonant-vowel-consonant words. I was pleased how well Kaniyah read; she is not automatic with her reading, but she absolutely has the decoding skills to read the words. I dictated several words for her to write on the dry erase board; her encoding (spelling) skills are just as solid as her decoding, and she has very nice handwriting, with proper letter formation. I finished the session reading aloud a very silly book that Kaniyah really enjoyed. She is a delightful child and I look forward to working with her this year!

Lesson Comments
What a sweet kid! My plan is to solidify CVC words and then move onto consonant digraphs.
