Rory was instructed to open Photoshop, create a 5" by 5" template, import a Celtic image that I had found, and use the pen tool to recreate the image. I had him create 1/3 of the image and asked him to show me what he would do to create the other 2/3, since they were all identical. He was not sure so I walked him through the process of copying the image that he created and placing the parts in the correct places. Rory finalized the logo by placing an "R" in the center and adding a gradient. Rory saved his work as a Photoshop and a PNG file. I had Rory go to the student website and place the logo on the page of this year's logos.
