Biology:
The Cell -
After a review of the organization of life, which we discussed during our last class, we concentrated on the basic building block of life. I reminded GT of the three base concepts of cell theory. I then instructed him to construct a diagram of an animal cell, in his science notebook, using construction paper organelles. We then labeled the diagram and made a list the functions of each organelle next to the diagram. GT then constructed a diagram of a plant cell, using the same construction paper organelles he used in the first diagram. As we identified each organelle, and listed their function, we discussed the differences between plant and animal cells. He also made notes on the root words that can be found in the names of the organelles, and what they mean, as a tool to connect name and function. Homework: be prepared for a test on cell theory, and the structures inside a cell, for a test next week.
