Lesson Topic
Parts of a wave
Lesson Outline
A demo using a sheet of paper being moved at a constant rate under a marking pen which was vibrating up and down was used to produce a sine wave. The main parts of the wave were listed and defined on a lettered diagram. These included the crest, trough, wavelength, frequency, and amplitude. The velocity of a wave was determined when the frequency of the wave was determined and the wavelength given. The formula was derived as Velocity = frequency x wavelength, or V = F x Lambda. A few problems were presented for solving the velocity, frequency and wavelength
