Lesson Outline
Jonathan continued learning about solids and began learning about the properties of liquids, exploring questions such as why does water splash, why do balloons float in the air, and why does ice melt. Jonathan answered questions correctly and worked well independently. We checked on the progress of the popcorn kernels we had placed in water Wednesday, to see if they started to germinate, and we observed what looked to be little tails sprouting, or germinating, from one of the ends of the seeds after 4 days half-submerged in water. Jonathan made predictions based on observations. We wondered if there would be a difference if the kernels had not been heated and plan to experiment with those as well. We discussed the importance of careful documentation to record our observations and findings.
