Libby and I reviewed what is in the night sky. Then, we learned about stars and constellations. Libby had a lot of fun singing "Twinkle twinkle Little Star". She created a drawing representing the stars.
We discussed patterns. Then, we looked at images of zebra stripes, pinecones, and shells. Remington was able to identify the repeated patterns. Lastly, we completed a Time to Climb to assess his skills. He scored 85%.
We discussed the objects that are in the sky. Then, we went through a Nearpod lesson focusing on stars and constellations. Lastly, we completed a Time to Climb to assess skills.
Remington and I reviewed the layers in soil. Then, we read two books related to the Earth. Remington was able to identify volcanoes, coal, and fossils.
Teddy was prompted to draw a picture of what he sees in the night sky. Teddy drew a picture that included the moon, a few houses, and stars. He was able to identify all of them as I wrote the words. We observed a sunset, and Teddy was able to identify that the sun was going down and setting. Next, we read about what an astronomer does. Then, we reviewed the word wall words: Earth, Moon, star, Sun, pattern, predict, and season. Lastly, we read a book about the Moon.
Remington and I started Unit 1 of the Inspire Science Land and Water textbook today. We discussed Earth's Landscape, kinds of land and bodies of water that can be found on Earth. Next, we mapped the Earth's surface. Remington was able to identify that hills, mountains, rivers, plains, and lakes might be on a map of Earth's surface. Then, we discussed local landscapes and why the land is different in places around the world.
First, we checked the rain gauge to see if we got any rain over the last 24 hours. It was empty. After that, Remington and I discussed different kinds of weather. Then, we explored a "Dress for the Weather" Nearpod lesson. He took a virtual field trip to a park where children were flying kites. Next, he had to help a cartoon dog and cat dress for the season. He had a lot of fun with this section. Lastly, he completed a quiz and "Time to Climb" to determine his comprehension.
