Reviewing prior learning.
Lesson Outline
It was wonderful to see Baylie again. She approached her lesson today with great interest. We started to review the Teaching Little Fingers to Play book. She left hers in Georgia, however, we borrowed another student's book for now. We reviewed half of the book. She concentrated so well and was very careful to do her best at multi-tasking the correct notes, rhythm, tempo and fingering. This isn't easy. We then started to review "The Pink Panther". She will get a copy of the music next week so that we can analyze it. We will be starting "The Chart" again. "The Chart" is a simple check off the boxes of achieving all the scales, chords and everything associated with them. We then analyze music using this knowledge so that learning, memorizing and recalling the piece of music is done more effectively and with less frustration.

Lesson Comments
Baylie just wanted to pick up where we left off from last year. We are doing a review of the simple little pieces from "Teaching Little Fingers to Play". She concentrated beautifully and was able to play half of the book in one sitting. We also reviewed "The Pink Panther". She will get a copy of the music next week. She left all her music in Georgia, however, she left her "First Grade Book" here at the Batt School. We reviewed using another student's book. We will be reviewing all the scales and chords and all the things associated with them - key signatures, major, minor, diminished and augmented chords, arpeggios, etc. We will be able to learn quicker, better and recall faster using the knowledge of "The Chart". I think she is more eager this time than last year. So glad to have her back.
