Lesson Outline
Gabbie and I had a great session today. We began by reading aloud a chapter from a Series of Unfortunate Events. We then alternated reading a page with Orton-Gillingham exercises, including the following: Alpha Chip sequencing, sound deck review, Slap with various syllable types (CVC and VT). We spent the remainder of the session working with an FSA sample test. I focused on test-taking strategies. The teacher will read aloud the questions to Gabbie. Therefore it is imperative that she understands the language of the questions. Fortunately, this is predictable; we reviewed identifying the narrator, point of view, character description, a stanza in a poem, and how to find "evidence" in a text to back up an answer. When possible, I used our book as an example. It is clear to me that when Gabbie understands the question, she can answer it. Great work today!

Lesson Comments
I'm focusing on strategies because reading the texts in the FSA is a big challenge for Gabbie. This gives her a fighting chance. In terms of OG, Gabbie has CVC and silent E. She is still confused about vowel teams.
