Lesson Topic
Hands-on demonstration of force and speed/velocity
Lesson Outline
Today, we assembled a Science hands-on interactive kit to demonstrate how the size and weight of an object affects its speed, or velocity. We learned domain-related vocabulary, including the terms, 'velocity,' or the speed of something in a given direction, and 'path,' or 'trajectory' the distance and direction an object travels. Jonathan enjoyed placing different weighted foam rubber discs into the trajectory of the Kiwi Crate Disc Launcher and watching it shoot out with varying rates of speed. He also enjoyed me using his rolling chair to demonstrate how force can move an object forwards, backwards, or rotationally - with him seated on it!
