Lesson Outline
We began the session reading The Series of Unfortunate Events, and finished the second book in the series. Gabbie continues to impress me with her attention to detail when she listens. After reading, we accomplished the following OG exercises: phonological awareness, Alpha Chip sequencing, and sound deck review. We played a game of Slap with CVC words. For the remainder of the session, I focused on FSA test strategy, reviewing the types of questions asked, such as the main idea, lesson, point of view, order of events, chronological order, citing evidence from the text, and interpreting an image/picture/graphic. The phrasing of the questions can seem daunting, but when translated, Gabbie could easily access the information. It is my goal that she will be very familiar with the vocabulary of the test questions.
I will not work with Gabbie on Monday due to a conflict with her grandfather's schedule. I will work with her for 1.5 hours on Thursday, and the following week's sessions, to make up the time we have missed.

Lesson Comments
Gabbie was very difficult today. I think that not having her stuff placed in her room really threw her off. She was very rude and uncooperative. She threw Jenga blocks and index cards all over the room, took off her shoes and socks and stuck her feet in my face... lots of avoidance. I did the best I could to stay on track (and frankly not to lose my temper!) She is clearly feeling a lot of stress related to the FSA. Next week I will make sure that "her" office is as she expects it and hope for a better session.
