After a review of the activity GT worked on last class, we continued with the determination of how traits are generated. We started with blood type and GT was tasked with identifying the parents of a baby after a switch at the hospital, and some famous child support cases where the blood type determined if the accused was the father of the child. We then explored incomplete dominance, where both traits are expressed: white flowers and red flowers result in pink flowers. GT completed a quiz on the different genetic crosses we have discussed, including a pedigree, where traits are graphed over several generations, and GT was challenged to determine the genotype of the grandparents based on the phenotype of their progeny. Homework: Complete a pedigree.
