Lesson Outline
As Matthew's history paper on Buddhism is due next week ,we first examined the available biographical information about Siddhatta Gotama (the Buddha) . I provided instruction on Buddhist precepts- enlightenment, human suffering, mindfulness , and nirvana - and emphasized the vast distinction between Buddhism and Western religions. I directed Matthew to Chapter 4 of the Armstrong book to supplement our examination. Matthew took notes on the instruction ,and we then checked his history assignment to make sure we covered the scope of the information needed to prepare the history paper. We will begin writing on Wednesday. Matthew had some concerns about his upcoming Math test ,and he worked out and reviewed various Math problems on the whiteboard. He received assistance in Math from John, one of our Math teachers. Last, we reviewed the science vocabulary to prepare for the upcoming science test. I tested Matthew on the words and concepts and provided some elaboration in order to help him remember the context of the scientific concepts. I suggested that he get from the science teacher some examples of the scientific concepts listed on the vocabulary sheet in order to advance his understanding.
