Lesson Outline
Religion: Today we read a prayer of response. This prayer focused on Lent and how during this time we trust in God’s love and forgiveness. We then read the Our Father prayer. Jonathan wrote to fill in the blanks to finish a prayer and drew a picture of himself doing something that brings him closer to Jesus during Lent. Language arts: We began our session with some practice using guide words. We worked through an activity in which we were given three example dictionary pages with guide words. We found the pages that 15 different words would go on in our imaginary dictionary. This is a challenging task and we will continue to work on these skills. We then moved into the actual dictionary and explored some guide words and words on the page. We then used the word “knead” to focus on today. We found the definition and part of speech in the dictionary, the guide words on the top of the dictionary page, identified a synonym and antonym, and used the word in a sentence. After that, we read chapters 4 and 5 of our novel study, Mummies in the Morning. Jonathan practiced his novel based spelling words for the week. He did a nice job with recall for the follow up questions. We are discussing past-tense verbs this week. We read a fun story booklet called, Now and Then. Throughout the story, Jonathan was tasked with changing the present tense verbs to past tense. Some were regular and some were irregular. Next, Jonathan began the final stage of publishing his writing piece. He drew a cover page and colored the first two pages of his story.
