Lesson Outline
Religion: In his We Believe textbook, we began lesson 24 entitled, We Share God’s Love. We read a prayer from John 20: 19, 21 about how Jesus told his followers that he wanted them to share God’s love with everyone. We also read about how Jesus told his followers in John 13:34 that as he has loved us, we should love one another and how we should serve God and one another, too. Language Arts: Today we continued our study of nonfiction books and text features. In his iReady textbook, we practiced using words and pictures together to find information. We also examined the caption to get information. We started a new writing piece tied into this unit. We will be creating an All About Me project presented through text features. Today Jonathan wrote two pages that will be his table of contents. These pages are “Meet Jonathan” and “My Favorites”. We also wrote two events of his timeline. Next, we read two chapters of our novel study, Mummies in the Morning. We were excited to find out the cat saved them! To continue our study of past tense verbs, we worked though some sentences written in the present tense and rewrote them inserting irregular past tense verbs. Jonathan likes these! We then enjoyed the book Dearly, Nearly, Insincerely: What is an Adverb? This fun rhyming booked discussed a lot of adverbs and their purpose in sentences. Jonathan then worked through an activity where he found the adverb in the sentence and the verb it described. As we have been working on commas, Jonathan wrote some sentences using a word bank and inserted commas where indicated. We wrapped up our session with some time on Reading Eggspress. Jonathan worked through spelling activities for words with split digraphs (a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, and u-e). He scored 10/10 on the follow up quiz.
