Project design
Lesson Outline
Andrew worked on completing the construction of a shelf he designed out of objects he found around the school. He used super glue and clasps to attach the shelves to one another in a multi-level design. Andrew enjoys being challenged by engineering projects. We discussed whether it was an invention based on necessity, and Andrew agreed that as it served a function, it could be interpreted as an idea borne out of necessity; however, he also admitted that he got into first gear when he saw a cardboard box well-suited for his intents and purposes. Andrew took pride in explaining how he designed his shelf to store his charger, tissues, and various objects that he uses in school every day. He is a goal-oriented, independent student, who creatively uses resources with productive results and outcomes.
