Lesson Outline
We began the session reviewing the functon of each plant part. Jonathan labeled the functions of the flower, leaf, stem, and roots, and finished coloring the leaves on the plant picture we drew the other day. Next, Jonathan learned about the life cycle of a plant today. He learned that a life cycle shows how a living thing grows and changes, and that the plant's life begins with a seed. We then reviewed the major stages of the flower life cycle. Jonathan understands that the plant life cycle starts with a seed, and that every seed holds a miniature plant called the embryo. We reviewed the major stages, which are germination, growth, reproduction, pollination, and spreading seeds.

Lesson Comments
I had to address an issue between Jonathan and Christopher. Jonathan was upset and did not have fun at recess because Christopher pushed him when tagging him more than once, and kept making him be ' 'it' even when the other kids said not to. I called Christopher in and had them talk about it. Christopher first denied pushing him but then admitted to doing so but said he didn't mean to. He grew upset and said everyone is faster than him. We talked about the difference in people's abilities in that there will often be someone faster or stronger. Christopher said he's going to try to work on his speed and said he will be more aware and not push hard when tagging. I had them both shake hands, although Jonathan was reluctant. Jonathan said he is not really fully his friend, and that things are different here than in New Jersey. I praised Jonathan for coming to me to share that he had a bad experience during recess and allowed me to address it to the best of my ability. I apprised Cal. Elise overheard and said she's seen Christopher do a body slam into Christopher as well when they leave school.
