Lesson Outline
Religion: Today we finished chapter 25 in Jonathan’s We Believe textbook. Our lesson today focused on how we honor all the saints of the Church. We discussed that there are many saints who loved God very much. They put God first in their lives and tried to be kind and fair. We work to live like the saints and share God’s peace with others. Jonathan drew a picture of a way to honor his mom (help with the dishes) and a way to honor Mary (pray). He then scored 5/5 on the follow up assessment for this chapter. Language Arts: We worked through two days of our daily language review. Jonathan did a great job catching the capitalization and punctuation errors today! For literature, we read chapter 8 in our novel, Pirates Past Dawn. We studied the word swine today by examining how it’s used in the book, what Jonathan thought it meant, and then we looked it up in the dictionary. He then drew a picture of the treasure chest that Jack found. In the story, Jack did not open the chest, however Jonathan drew an alternate ending to show him opening the chest and what he might discover. Jonathan scored a 10/12 on his spelling test for words focused on our book. He also got his bonus word (through) correct. We ended the session with some practice with prepositions and filling in the blank to complete the sentences using the proper preposition. For the rest of our time today, Jonathan participated in a school-wide art and talent show activity.
