We began with our daily language review for Wednesday and Thursday. We worked on proofreading including capitalization, punctuation, verb agreement, and continued focus on possessives. We also discussed the sentence types of declarative, interrogative, and exclamatory. For literature today, we began with practice of our novel based spelling words. Jonathan is doing a great job with these! We then read chapters 3 through 5 of our novel, Afternoon of the Amazon. We are working on reading fluency and not skipping lines in our shared reading task. We discussed the actions of Jack and Annie and how they must be feeling! Jonathan answered questions to assess his recall and comprehension of the book. To wrap up our session, we enjoyed looking at some pictures of piranhas as our characters faced these creatures in our story.
