Lesson Topic
Spiders and their Prey/Rainstorms
Lesson Outline
Jonathan started his lesson by hearing the book, The Spider Grows Up. After hearing about the aspects of the life cycle of a spider, Jonathan reviewed the words as molting, adult, eggs, sac, spiderlings. Joanathan watched the video about Tricky Spiders. This video showed four ways in which spiders catch their prey. Jonathan listed these on his paper: He listed the use of a spider web; a spider net made to catch prey; a long spinner line used to swing onto a branch; a trap door, and a spider who walks on water to catch a fish. Jonathan continued his lesson by listening to a story, Come On, Rain by Karen Hesse. It helped to define the experience of a rainstorm. This portion of the lesson was centered around weather and rain. Jonathan started an essay about a rainstorm. He was able to use the words Nimbus cloud to mean rain cloud. Jonathan worked on good sentence structure. We will continue his work next week. Jonathan shows great interest in his work and good participation.
