Lesson Outline
Religion: Today Jonathan took his Unit 4 assessment in his We Believe textbook. This test was comprised of a series of yes/no responses, fill in the blank, and several short answer questions which focused on ways to share God’s love. Jonathan scored a 10/10 on his assessment. We have completed his We Believe textbook. I spoke with his mother of my plan to continue Religion work through reading of a prayer from his book of prayers in the back of his textbook each day and we will review the vocabulary he learned in the text using the We Believe online resource. Language Arts: We began with Jonathan’s Ready Classroom textbook. We completed page 140 in his text, again focusing on key points and reasons to support. We used the source text, Upsetting the Balance to choose the correct key point of the two presented and then Jonathan wrote the correct supporting detail from the final paragraph. In our continuation of studying the rainforest, we enjoyed a fantastic virtual field trip video through the rain forest on You Tube. This video showed us some of the plant and animal life throughout the four layers of the rainforest. After the video, Jonathan answered recall questions of information we gained. We then completed an activity in which we identified and placed 9 different animal pictures onto a picture of the rainforest. This rainforest picture showed the 4 different layers and Jonathan placed the animals in the correct layer. He then read a statement about each animal as he placed it. We enjoyed looking at real photographs online of each animal as well. For writing today, Jonathan drew and colored his picture of the purple honeycreeper. He will write about it in our next session. Finally, we wrapped up the day with chapters 3 and 4 of our novel, Sunset of the Sabertooth. The kids are warming up in a cave and found some clothes made from reindeer skin! We completed follow-up comprehension and critical thinking questions after our reading as well.
