Today is Jonathan’s 7th birthday! As a treat, we mixed up our curriculum a bit today. We started with a Scholastic Learn at Home activity. We read an article and watched an informational video about a Lego Brickmaster in New York. She explained some of her job duties and showed how she prepares for new builds. She compared her work to that of an architect. We discussed another Lego artist and saw some photos of his work. We were amazed at the size and scale of his builds. As part of this same lesson, we read and watched a short video about Fossil Park in New Jersey which paleontologists believe may show evidence of fossils directly related to the asteroid impact 66 million years ago. Finally, as part of this learn at home lesson, we read an article with some fun facts about The Statue of Liberty. Next, we played Jeopardy game 2. Jonathan did a great job answering questions of increasing difficulty in the topics of adverbs, adjectives, homophones, and prepositions. We then continued our literature study of Sunset of the Sabertooth by reading chapter 5. We then worked through some comprehension and critical thinking questions to follow up. Finally, we watched a fun related, science video about ice caves.
