Lesson Topic
magnets, domains, and electromagnets
Lesson Outline
The concept of domains, are what causes a magnet to form. The formation of temporary magnets was shown and explained, as well as permanent magnets. The magnetic field produced by a current flowing through a wire was viewed as an image, showing it to be perpendicular to the flow of current. The right hand rule was examined as the method to determine the magnetic field direction. A straight wire made into a loop with the accompanying magnetic field produced, seen, and expanded into many loops, forming an electromagnet... The result of placing an iron bar in the center of the loop, and concentrating the magnetism was presented, along with the magnetism stopping when the current ceased.
