Our focus today was on Imperialism. Katya was introduced to the concept, the late 19th/early 20th century Age of Imperialism, during which countries were imperialist and in which countries were imperialized. We examined a classic political cartoon from this era that illustrates European nations carving up China and China's difficulty from preventing this. We will resume our look at imperialism tomorrow. Why did some Europeans and Americans think imperialism was just? And...what were/are the many injustices regarding imperialism?
