TEAMS: Chasing Coral -
In honor of Earth Day, GT and I met to watch ‘Chasing Coral’. This movie is an epic adventure to capture important changes in our oceans. This documentary follows several scientists as they film the phenomena of coral bleaching, over time. Coral bleaching happens when the ocean water temperature rises just two degrees, causing the break down of the symbiotic relationship between coral and microalgae. The algae provide nourishment to the corals, so the animal dies. Along with a strong conservation message and a lesson on Global Warming, this film is an excellent introduction to the natural history of Cnidarians.
