Lesson Topic
The End of Empire: 1900 - Present
Lesson Outline
Today was our final class in AP World History. We viewed some brief commentary from Trevor Noah regarding apartheid, Nelson Mandela and South Africa. We looked at the development of Latin American governments in the latter 20th century. Many of them have transitioned from military dictatorships to democracies. We must continue to pay attention to tensions in the the Middle East as well as some areas of eastern Asia. There are four challenges Anna's generation will likely inherit: 1) nuclear weapons, 2) maintaining democracies around the world, 3) religious conflicts around the world, 4) ensuring that the world is safe from disease. Many of us thought that pandemics were a thing of the past - but we all now know that they are not. We must learn from this pandemic and the events of the past to ensure the world improves and becomes a safer place for all of us now - and for future generations.
