TEAMS: Taxonomy / Animals - Mammals -
After reviewing the things we learned yesterday, GT and I proceeded to the last class: Mammalia. We examined the criteria of the class mammal, including hair, endotherms, that have lungs and four limbs and also some big advances in brain anatomy, endocrine, circulatory, and reproductive systems. We explored the three types of mammals (monotreme, marsupial, and placental) and the differences between oviparous, viviparous, and ovoviviparous. Finally we examined the pros and cons for each strategy. We watched a film of a kangaroo being born, and crawling into the pouch, and an echidna laying an egg, and nursing without nipples.
