I began with a review of the sound deck with visual, auditory, and blending drills. Wyatt's ability to identify the multiple spellings of long vowels is improving. I focused again on the R-controlled vowels for the blending board and saw a slight improvement in his decoding. We played a game of tic-tac-toe with vowel-consonant-e words. We co-read the decodable reader, "The Green Fern Zoo: Groundhogs." While we waited for Rhett to arrive, we played a few "hangman" rounds, emphasizing identifying syllables and vowels.
