I began with a review of the sound deck with visual and blending drills. For the blending board, I focused on the vowel teams ai, ee, and ea with the following words: bail, mail, pail, peel, wheel, heel, heal, meal, steal, real. Wyatt has been reviewing "sight words" in class. I assessed his progress using the Fry word list; he correctly read 55/63 words. This information will guide my instruction. He read a chapter of the decodable book "The Green Fern Zoo: The Reptile Room."
