Lesson Outline
Math – We learned how to use subtraction strategies with two-digit numbers. Jonathan prefers the number line. Then we practiced adding the difference to the amount we subtracted to check our answers. Next we were introduced to using addition with carryover and subtraction with borrowing. We used these strategies to complete the I-ready comprehension check.
Science – We completed Day 3 of “Why can’t an apple tree grow oranges?” We learned that there are many kinds of citrus fruits that are closely related and there are many varieties of apples. The apples have only slightly different traits such as Granny Smith that are good for baking, Fuji which are very juicy, and Golden Delicious which are very sweet but bruise easily.
