I began with a review of the sound deck with visual and auditory drills. Graphemes included igh, oa, oo, dge, ea, ow, ai, ay, y, tch. Kip missed reading and spelling dge, oa, ai, ea as /e/ oo as /u/ and y as /I/. I will re-teach those graphemes. I introduced ew /oo/ as a new concept. I showed Kip its placement in a word (usually at the end of a word or syllable). He read example words. I dictated words and sentences with ew /oo/. I helped Kip edit his sentences using the CAPS mnemonic (capitalization, appearance, punctuation, spelling.)
