Orton -Gillingham
Lesson Outline
I began with a phonological awareness exercise, asking Kip to delete one sound from an initial blend. This oral drill helps with spelling. Next, I reviewed the und deck with visual and auditory exercises. Graphemes included ar, er, ur, or, oo, ea, ee, ai, ay. Next, we practiced "regular" spelling words; I dictated the following: barn, fern, burn, born, food, need, read, wait, stay. To review irregular words, I dictated 15 words from a UFLI list of commonly used irregular words. Kip correctly spelled the following: the, is, his, as, has, you, to, do, for, of, said, was, want, what, are. I taught the grapheme oa as a new concept; Kip read example words. To conclude, we co-read the novel Ranger.

Lesson Comments
Kip is not used to having me on his schedule and was 25 minutes late to our session. I told him that I would have Nicole provide him with an updated schedule. I encouraged him to pay attention tomorrow when an adult helps him login into Teams so that he will know how to do it by himself.
