Lesson Outline
I began with a phonological awareness exercise, followed by a sound deck review with visual, auditory, and blending drills. I reviewed the grapheme oa; it is clear that Kip needs another lesson to master this concept. I dictated five irregular words (said, they, could, should, would) and taught could, should, would as he didn't know them. I taught the drop e spelling rule and dictated words to reinforce it (riding, hiding, giving, shaking, living.) We read the novel Ranger for the last 15 minutes of the session.
