Lesson Outline
I began with a review of the sounds deck with visual, auditory, and blending drills. Graphemes included ee, g, it, oo, ph, ea, ur, ai, or, er, ay, oa, ow. I revisited the ow as /ō/ and /ow/ grapheme, dictating words to determine mastery (clown, group, now, plow, snow, grow). I dictated the following irregular words: any, many, from, front, off. I taught the six syllable types as a new concept (closed, open, silent e, r-controlled, vowel team, consonant -le). We played a game of Phonics Dice to reinforce the concepts. We co-read one chapter of the novel, Ranger. To conclude, we played a game of "sight word Jenga."
