Lesson Outline
Cabo explained that he has a few Science questions and that he is currently learning about reactions. We briefly reviewed his latest topic in Science - Collision theory and noted that it describes how a change in the concentration of a reactant affects the rate of chemical reaction. The main idea of the chapter is understanding why some reactions are faster than others. We reviewed where to find the answers to his Homework questions and reviewed the main idea, stating that although every chemical reaction can proceed at a different rate, it can be speeded up or slowed down by changing the conditions of the reaction. Cabo is to refer to Section II in his Chemistry book study guide. We then briefly reviewed his PERT study guide. Cabo learned that the acronym for 'PERT' is Postsecondary Education Readiness Test. When I informed him that Florida high school students are required to take the PERT in the eleventh grade, Cabo was happy to learn that since he's still only in the ninth grade, he has plenty of time to prepare.
