Kip and I began the session reviewing the six syllable types: closed, open, silent e, r-controlled, vowel teams, final stable syllable. I reminded Kip that if he knows the syllable types and how to divide (syllabicate) a word, he can decode any word in the world! To reinforce the concept, we played two board games, "Syllable Hop" and "Phonics Dice." To conclude, we read the novel Ranger.
