Lesson Topic
Earth Day poster/Environmentalism
Lesson Outline
We discussed Earth Day which was celebrated today, 4/22, and began by describing some behaviors that would be considered environmentally irresponsible. Cabo and I collectively brainstormed ways to design an art poster that would recognize, via illustration, ways to honor the Earth. He learned synonyms for garbage (i.e., trash, rubbish, and refuse) and planned to include that category in one section of the drawing to denote one of the ways by which people can reuse and conserve materials and resources to make them Earth friendly. Cabo learned the symbol that is universally recognized for recycling and included it in his design. It is called the Mobius Loop and we discussed reasons why it symbolically represents recycling.

Lesson Comments
I taught Cabo for one hour today, 4/22/21 from 9:00 - 10:00. It was quite the challenge to get him focused and participate, but I remained persistent and had him work collaboratively with me, albeit intermittently, in resourceful, creative ways.
