Max completed his spelling quiz on Shakespearean literary terms . We then worked on forming a paragraph about the play using all of the words such as : tragedy, iambic pentameter, protagonist,scene etc. We used this exercise to review critical aspects of the play,including Macbeth's sudden change in fortune, the peripeteia . As Max's next assignment from his London school requires an analysis of the opening scene of the play, we read and discussed the opening scene where the three witches appear ,and then watched the Kennedy Center's production of Act I (i). We noted the use of rhyme and rhythm to suggest incantations. As the school's assignment includes some preliminary work on Shakespeare, we looked at a list of Shakespeare's plays. For homework, rewrite the paragraph of literary vocabulary and read the one page biography of Shakespeare from the book.
