Max's London school forwarded an assignment requiring a detailed examination of I(iii),the scene where the witches prophesize that Macbeth will be King but that Banquo's descendants shall be kings thereafter. We re-read the scene and discussed the dramatic function of the witches and analyzed the different reactions of Banquo and Macbeth to the prophesy. We traced how Macbeth's initial amazement at the news later degenerates into pure lust for power and murder. Last, we answered detailed comprehension questions .
