Lesson Outline
We continued to work on amplifying Max's assessment responses to the poetry questions by adding quotes and textual support. Max did well locating within the poem further specific language to support his topic sentences. We then began the next assignment from his London school requiring an analysis of another scene from Act I of Macbeth. We first studied 17th Century gender roles and with that foundation studied Lady Macbeth's speech where she seeks to be "unsexed" so as to have the ambition and cruelty necessary to make Macbeth king . We further examined Shakespeare's metaphorical language analogizing Macbeth's kind nature as "the milk of human kindness " which Lady Macbeth feels she must squeeze from him . We then addressed a few short answer questions from the assignment . Today was Max's last day of class at Batt. I enjoyed having Max as a student these past few weeks.
