Earth Patterns and Movement
Lesson Outline
In today's session Sebastian and I finished the three cities activity. We analyzed the data he collected and graphed, then used what we learned about the Earth's revolution around the sun and the Earth's tilt to help explain the differences.

At 11:00am Sebastian was laying on the couch with his eyes closed. I asked him to get up as it was time for class, to which he ignored me. Once other teachers came by asking what's wrong and Christopher who said he was faking, he finally spoke up to say he wasn't faking. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he wasn't feeling good so he needed to nap for a bit. I told him I could call his mother as he can't nap at school. He said it wasn't that bad and that he just needed to rest. I presented two options to him: 1) call his mom so he could go home to take a nap and feel better or 2) get up and go to class to learn. He proceeded to lay on the couch and not answer. Mrs. Judie came over and got him to sit up as a parent was in the school and suggested we do class in the library. He wanted to do that until I told him that everyone would hear his responses to earth's patterns and movement.
Once back in his room at 11:10am, I reaffirmed from this morning and for this class, that class starts and ends at designated times. Which I have told him for multiple classes now. Today he said that Mercer is the one that told him that class doesn't start until they are in the room, so he was just going off what Mercer said. I told him that isn't true and he knows that because I've told him for over a week and he has been to this school before. I then proceed to tell him that the ignoring and mocking needed to stop, as it is disrespectful to me and the other teachers. Plus he needs to treat others like he would like to be treated. He responded with that Mercer started it. So I told him that he needs to be the bigger person in that instance and to say that teasing isn't cool instead of joining in. I asked him if he understood and he nodded. I started the activity and after a minute he said he needed to use the restroom. He used the bathroom from 11:21-11:31. Once back we proceeded with the activity, though he kept trying to change the subject to if it was okay to touch eyeballs. At 11:55 he said class it was time for lunch, I responded that we had 5 minutes left and since we had lost time at the beginning we were going to the end. He proceeded to argue the entire time that we couldn't get anything done in that amount of time, which wasn't true as we had one question left on the activity and could easily have been completed during that time.
