Lesson Outline
Jack and I began our session with two stories - "My Ball" and "See Me Play". Jack wrote and illustrated what happened to the ball in his journal, describing that the lion ate the ball and the dogs chased the lion. I assisted with illustrating the lion's body. We listened to the story, "Carlos Counts Kittens". Jack then read it by himself using the pictures and repetition of numbers to assist him. He did great! Jack then took a comprehension quiz on the story and received a 100%. We ended our session with a science activity. Jack created his own mini-planet out of a foam ball and paint, as well as the planet Earth. Jack used the correct colors for planet Earth and did a wonderful job! He then dictated as I filled out a lab sheet, "Create Your Own Planet", describing the name of his planet, how many moons, how far away from the sun, and more! I love that Jack chose to create his own planet, as well as a real planet in our Solar System.
