Lesson Outline
Santino was greeted while completing an interactive computer education website. He transitioned well to his classroom area where we started with an auditory comprehension book activity also targeting: commenting, verbs, following directions, literacy skills, and answering simple questions. We have been using the same book for a few sessions to allow for multiple exposures. Santino's attention to this book today was great! He was visually scanning and interactive with this activity. Following the book, we targeted naming verbs with new material/cards. Santino required more assistance with this task since it was novel. We will continue to target a variety of verbs in different environments. Also, we targeted following directions with a art/drawing activity with shapes. Santino did well with following directives allowing for pause time to process. We did tracing shapes with different crayons and markers. This also targeted fine motor skills. I believe considering an occupational therapy evaluation to assist with fine motor skills, visual processing, and writing would be advised. Santino was asked his personal questions (i.e. name, address) - Santino did not answer, requiring more cues today. There were many opportunities this session for requesting for help, more, and protesting. Santino answered yes/no questions given verbal assistance with 60% accuracy. Lastly, increasing utterance length with combinations of nouns, verbs, and descriptors... Overall, Santino had a good session.
