Lesson Outline
Santino was greeted in the pre-k classroom as he finished up with Anna the art teacher. We discussed some goals and skills to target in art based on fine motor skills. He would benefit from coloring, painting, tracing, writing, clay, etc. We discussed current goals in speech therapy and communication to carry over and collaborate skills throughout his day at school. As usual, we start with a language enrichment book activity to target many of Santinos language goals. This tends to center his attention which helps with the rest of the session. Santino's scripting from shows/videos was increased today requiring more frequent breaks and redirection. Santino named 7/17 versos today when asked "What is she doing" during a structured task. These cards were familiar to him however he continues to improve the understanding of the "wh" question as well as verbs. We also targeted "Wh" questions in terms of object function, requiring additional cues throughout that task. We went to the playground to target social interaction, verbs, requesting, and increasing utterance length. Verbal initiation continues to require max cues and modeling. Santino did request to go inside soon after going outside, however we did play soccer together and ran on the playground. Santino answered yes/no questions 0/5 trials independently requiring phonemic cueing. We will continue to target the many goals mentioned above.
