Lesson Topic
Categorization as a Path to Illumination
Lesson Outline
Andrew and I discussed the tendency of humans to categorize the subjects that we studied.
We looked at the categories that exist in art. We spoke about several types of art and prominent artists. Andrew drew comparisons amongst the artistic styles and artists. He categorized them.
We then discussed how these categories can give shape to comparisons and contrasts. We discussed some of the categories of life and elements of those categories.
We discussed elements that we strongly associate with those categories and then gave stark examples of elements that we would not expect to find in categories such as trees with lungs or humans bearing fruits.
