We began to learn cursive writing and he was very focused on the lesson. We reviewed his spelling words and what his weekly spelling homework assignments are. We began to read chapter 4 of, "From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler," discussing elements of the story as we read. He copied down new vocabulary words from the next story into his literature notebook and began reading, "Gecko Glue, Cockroach Scouts, and Spider Silk Bridges." He really enjoyed reading this story and the many innovations that came from studying these creatures. We delved into the meanings, usage, and derivations of this week's Wordly Wise words.
