How Do Mail-In Ballots Work?
Lesson Outline
Today there is a local election for Jupiter residents to vote for a new mayor and two new members of the Town Council. I will be going to vote in person later, so I brought my mail-in ballot to class to show Jaydn. Although it could be dropped off during business hours at the N. County Courthouse today, it's now too late to mail it in from any other location. So we used the ballot for Jaydn to gain an understanding of the vote-in ballot process.
We reviewed instructions for: How to mark a ballot, how to insert it in the envelope, where to sign, seal and date the outside of the envelope and how to return it to the Palm Beach Supervisor of Elections. Jaydn learned that it is even possible for voters to track their ballots at www.votepalmbeach.gov. I have tracked a previous ballot and it was very interesting to see it make its way through the process. Jaydn was impressed by how sensible and easy it is for a voter/constituent to check on the status of their vote.
